Variant cover market notes
Variant covers still do the same work they did on the spinner rack: they split attention. These notes record how that split looked in NFT comic listings.
A variant cover note isolates one alternate treatment and follows it as a listing object. We transcribe how the marketplace described the art, whether a ratio or scarcity phrase appeared in public copy, and how asking prices sat beside the standard cover in the same fortnight.
Print-era collectors already know that a variant can be a decoy. Digital comic collectibles inherited that habit. The note is useful when a later buyer sees only the flashy cover and wants a written memory of whether the standard issue was actually the quieter listing that month.
